Mr. Amer Hassan brings with him 17 years of experience in different areas of banking supervision, including on- site inspection, off-site surveillance, prudential policy , and macro-prudential supervision. Currently he is heading Prudential Regulations Division at State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and looking after the development and review of prudential standards for banks and DFIs. Mr. Hassan has participated in various initiatives of SBP to strengthen the supervisory framework. He led initiatives to develop framework for the consolidated supervision of financial conglomerates and to introduce explicit deposit insurance system in Pakistan. He was prime member of the team that pioneered performance and stability reviews at SBP, and he also managed the assignments related to financial reporting & disclosure regime and the strengthening of SBP’s off-site surveillance regime.
Mr. Hassan has done masters in Finance from Hailey College of Commerce and Associate of Institute of Cost & Management Accounts of Pakistan (ACMA). Based on his contributions in banking supervision, Mr. Hassan was awarded scholar membership by International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN). He has attended various workshops and seminars on banking supervision, corporate governance, risk management, and strategic management and represented SBP on a number of national and international forums. Mr. Hassan also takes keen interest in capacity building initiatives and conduct training sessions, both in Pakistan and abroad, on key topics of banking supervision, corporate governance, and financial reporting & analysis.
